Is there truly a difference between a farm and a ranch? According the article written by the Texanist not really, but the definitions he provided from Mariam-Webster and USDA make you question it. A farm is defined as a "any place from which $1,000 or more of agriculture products were produced and sold, or normally would have been sold, during the year." or "a tract of land devoted to agricultural purposes". By these definitions a farm could be any piece of property. A ranch is defined as "a farm or area devoted to a particular specialty". After comparing the definitions it appears that there is truly no difference between a farm and ranch until you see that a ranch is a specialized plot of land and a farm has no specific specialty.
