The history of Texas cattle ranching goes back to the time of Christopher Columbus and has been tracked throughout the years to what we know today. Texas cattle ranching began between the 16th and 17th centuries when Spanish missionaries moved across the Rio Grande into what is known as Texas today. By 1680, thousands of cattle were recorded in the El Paso region. The long timeline of Texas cattle ranching is extensive and can be better explored.
